ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Our dance of co-creativity began in 1967 in Chicago where we enjoyed successful careers in business, law and real estate. In 1987, we embarked on an adventure and became owners and shepherds of Heartwood Institute in the mountains outside Garberville, California. We followed our commitment to a holistic world view and the development of human potential with this business dedicated to learning and healing couched in a community environment.

Stepping back from the operations of Heartwood Institute and the rural life we enjoyed for many years has allowed us to savor historic Eureka with its amenities that seem greater than a small seacoast town would be expected to possess. Now we have time to focus our co-creativity with digital photography.

We often photograph and create together, enjoying the energetic play of supporting our creative growth. We inspire each other’s creativity. It was satisfying when our first photos were chosen in juried shows and when we sold our first piece. Our photographic eyes see a wide range of subjects. We enjoy experimenting and learning. Adobe Photoshop has allowed us to expand our ideas and techniques in digital photography far beyond any experience in dark room practices.

While Roy’s interest in photography is more recent, Bob’s first experience with photography goes back to his childhood when his parents gave him his first camera at about age ten. When Bob graduated from high school he went to work as a news photographer for WTVN-TV in Columbus, Ohio. That job supported him for seven years as he wound his way through Ohio State University and Law School.

Roy ventured into his creative zone and with Bob’s support was the prime mover behind this web site.

We hope you enjoy our art.
